We install solar on houses, barn conversions and outbuildings across Kent and East Sussex. That includes on-roof and in-roof systems, flat roof arrays on ballasted or A-frame mounts, and all the electrical work that goes with them: the inverter, isolation, protection and the connection to your consumer unit.
The electrical side is where a lot of solar companies fall short. A solar array is a generator connected to your house, and the people who fit the panels should be qualified to connect them. We're electricians first, so that's exactly how we work.
Every installation is MCS certified. You need that certificate to get paid for the electricity you export, and it's what your insurer and any future buyer will want to see.

What to expect
Survey
We check the roof pitch, orientation, shading and structure, and the condition of your existing electrical installation. The consumer unit is the one people forget about, and it often decides what's possible.
Design and quote
You get a panel layout for your roof, the make and model of the panels and inverter, a generation estimate with the assumptions listed, and a fixed price.
Installation
Scaffold, mounting, panels, then the electrical work. Most domestic installations take a few days.
Certification and handover
We test and commission the system, issue the MCS certificate, and show you how the monitoring and the shutdown procedure work before we leave.

Common questions
How much will it save me?
It depends on your roof, how much electricity you use and your tariff, so we won't give you a figure until we've seen the roof. Your quote includes a generation estimate with the assumptions written down, so you can see how we got to it.
Does my roof need to face south?
No. South is best, but east and west facing roofs work well and are very common. Splitting the array across two aspects often suits how a household uses electricity through the day. North facing roofs are usually not worth it.
What is an in-roof system?
The panels sit in the roof instead of on top of it, replacing the tiles underneath. It looks a lot neater, and it makes sense on a new roof or a re-roof because the tiles are coming off anyway.
Can I add a battery later?
Usually, yes. If you think you might, tell us at the design stage, because it affects which inverter we fit.
What does MCS certification do?
MCS is the scheme that certifies both the installer and the installation. Without an MCS certificate you can't get an export tariff from your energy supplier, and it's the paperwork a buyer or insurer will ask for.
