Dan installs solar on ordinary houses, barn conversions and outbuildings. On roof, in roof, flat roof on ballasted or A frame mounts, and the electrical side that goes with it: inverter, isolation, protection and the connection back to the board.
The part that gets skipped elsewhere is the electrical work. A solar array is a generator wired into your house, and it is worth having the people who fit the panels also be the people qualified to connect them. That is the whole reason this business does both.
Every installation is MCS certified, which is what makes it eligible for an export tariff and what your insurer and any future buyer will want to see.

How a job runs
Assessment
Roof pitch, orientation, shading, structure and the state of the existing electrical installation. All four matter, and the last one is the one that catches people out.
Design and quote
A layout for your roof with the panel and inverter specified, the expected generation stated with the assumptions behind it, and a fixed price.
Installation
Scaffold, mounting, panels, then the electrical work. Most domestic installs are done inside a few days.
Certification and handover
Testing, commissioning, MCS certificate, and a walk through of the monitoring and the shutdown procedure before we leave.

Questions
The ones that come up most
- What will it save me?
- That depends on your roof, your usage and your tariff, so any number given before someone has looked at the roof is guesswork. You get a generation estimate with the assumptions written down, and you can hold us to those assumptions.
- Does my roof need to face south?
- No. South is best, east and west arrays work and are common, and a split array across two aspects often suits how a household actually uses electricity. North facing is the one that is usually not worth it.
- What is an in roof system?
- The panels sit in the roof rather than on top of it, replacing the tiles underneath. It looks considerably better and it suits a new roof or a re roof, because the tiles are coming off anyway.
- Can I add a battery later?
- Usually yes, and it is worth saying at design stage if you are thinking about it, because it affects the inverter choice.
- What does MCS certification actually do?
- It is the scheme that certifies the installer and the installation. Without it you cannot get an export tariff from your supplier, and it is the paperwork a buyer or an insurer will look for.
