About

Electricians first, solar second

Daniel Hobbs Electrical is Dan and the team who work with him. Dan quotes the work, and the people who turn up to do it are the same people every time, not whoever a subcontractor sent that week.

The business started with domestic electrical work and has moved steadily towards renewables. Most weeks now are a mix: a consumer unit or a rewire, a solar installation, a charge point. The electrical work is the foundation rather than something bolted on afterwards, which is the reason the solar side works the way it does.

How we work

Anything beyond a small job gets looked at before it gets priced. You get a written quote for what was actually discussed, and if something turns up behind a wall that changes the number, you hear about it then rather than at the end.

Work gets tested and certified, the paperwork comes to you, and the place is left clean. None of that is remarkable. It is just what the job is.

Certification

Solar installations are MCS certified, which is what makes an export tariff possible and what a surveyor or an insurer will ask to see. The business also works to the Renewable Energy Consumer Code, which covers how renewable work is sold and installed.

  • NICEIC Domestic Installer. The electrical registration scheme Dan works under, covering domestic installation work.
  • MCS certified. The certification scheme for small scale renewable installations in the UK.
  • Renewable Energy Consumer Code. A consumer code covering how renewable energy work is sold and installed.
