A home charger draws a large current for hours at a time. Fitting the unit to the wall is the easy part. The real work is making sure your supply, earthing and protection can handle it.
We check your incoming supply and your existing consumer unit first, then quote for a charger and cable run that suit your property. If your board needs upgrading before a charger can go on, we'll tell you at the quote stage, not on the day.
If you have solar, or you're thinking about it, it's worth choosing a charger that can use your surplus generation from the start rather than swapping it later.

Check the supply
Main fuse rating, earthing arrangement, the condition of the board and the route the cable will take. This decides what's possible.

A charger that suits how you drive and where you park. Any board work is priced separately so you can see what each part costs.
Install
Most installations take a day. Longer if the cable run is awkward or the board needs upgrading first.

Common questions
Will I need my fuse board upgrading?
Sometimes. It depends on the board, how much spare capacity there is and the earthing arrangement. It's one of the first things we check, and if work is needed it's priced separately so you can see the cost of each part.
How far can the charger be from the board?
Further than most people expect, but the cable has to get bigger as the distance increases. A detached garage at the end of a drive is a normal job, it just needs pricing properly.
Can the charger use my solar?
Yes, with a charger that supports it and a current sensor on your incoming supply. It's much easier to set up at the same time as the solar than to add later.
