A home charge point is a fixed appliance drawing a large, sustained current for hours at a time. Most of the work is not fitting the unit on the wall, it is making sure the supply, the earthing arrangement and the protection can take it.
Dan checks the incoming supply and the existing board first, then quotes for a charger and a cable run that suit the property. If your board needs work before a charger can go on it, you will be told that at the quote stage rather than on the day.
If you have solar, or are thinking about it, a charger that can use surplus generation is worth specifying at the outset rather than swapping later.

Questions
The ones that come up most
- Do I need my fuse board upgrading?
- Sometimes. It depends on the board, the available capacity and the earthing arrangement. It is one of the first things checked, and if work is needed it is priced separately so you can see the cost of each part.
- How far can the charger be from the board?
- Further than most people expect, but the cable size has to go up with the distance. A detached garage at the end of a drive is a normal job, it just needs pricing properly.
- Can the charger use my solar?
- Yes, with a charger that supports it and a current sensor on the incoming supply. It is much easier to set up at the same time as the solar than to retrofit.
