On a new roof or a re roof, an in roof system is worth considering because the tiles are coming off anyway. The panels replace the covering across their footprint and sit in the plane of the roof, which is a considerable improvement on a standard mounted array from the ground.
The trade off is that it has to be got right first time. The flashing and the weathering detail around the array is the part that matters, and it is done as the roof goes on rather than afterwards.
This one is a Marley concrete tile roof, laid new, with the array set into it as the covering went on.
