Solar that pays its way, wired by an electrician.

MCS certified solar and battery storage, plus rewires, consumer units and everything else electrical. Most solar firms round here started in plumbing. Dan started at the consumer unit, which is where most of a solar job actually happens.

Solar PV

Designed for the roof you actually have

On roof, in roof, pantile, slate or flat. Dan surveys the roof and the existing electrics together, because the second one is what catches people out.

  • Roof and site assessment
  • System design and panel layout
  • On roof mounting on tile, slate and pantile
  • In roof integrated arrays on new and re roofed properties
  • Flat roof ballasted and A frame mounting

Electrical

Dan does the whole electrical side, not just the roof

Solar is the growing part of the business, but the day job is still ordinary domestic electrical work. If it runs on electricity in your house, it is on this list.

  • RewiresFull and partial, including extensions and renovations.
  • Consumer unit changesOld boards and fuse boxes brought up to current standards.
  • EV chargersHome charge points with the supply and earthing checked first.
  • Battery storageFitted with a new array or added to one you already have.
  • LightingInterior, exterior, downlights, garden and security lighting.
  • Underfloor heatingWired, zoned and controlled, ready for the floor to go down.
  • Sockets and circuitsExtra sockets where you actually want them, and new circuits.
  • Outdoor powerSheds, garages, garden supplies and outbuildings.
  • Kitchens and bathroomsFirst fix before the units go in, second fix once they are.
  • Fault finding and call outsCircuits that keep tripping, traced rather than guessed at.
  • Smoke and heat detectionMains linked alarms fitted and tested.

Not on the list? Ring and ask. If it is domestic electrical work, the answer is usually yes.

Drag to compare

See the difference on the roof

Flat roof array on ballasted mounts

Panels tilted up on ballasted A frames across a flat roof, with no penetrations through the covering.

Drag the handle, or use the arrow keys.

All black solar panels laid in rows across the same felt flat roof once the array was complete.
Galvanised A frame mounts set out across a felt flat roof before the panels were fitted.
Drag to compare. Frames set out first, then the panels go on.

How it runs

Four steps, no surprises

  1. Survey

Roof pitch, aspect, shading, structure, and the state of the existing electrics. All four matter.

  2. Design and quote

A layout for your roof with the panel and inverter specified, and a fixed written price.

  3. Install

Scaffold, mounting, panels, then the electrical work. Most domestic jobs are a few days.

  4. Certify

Tested, commissioned, MCS certificate issued, and a walk through before Dan leaves.

About

One electrician, one van

Daniel Hobbs Electrical is Dan. He quotes the work, does the work, and is the person you ring afterwards if something is not right.

That means the diary is real rather than optimistic, and nobody turns up who has not seen the job before.
