Inverter, battery and isolation

The electrical half of a solar installation: inverter, battery, DC and AC isolation, generation metering and the shutdown notice.

A wall mounted solar inverter and battery unit on a plywood board, with an AC isolator, a DC isolator and cabling run between them.

Inverter and battery, with isolation either side of the inverter.

This is the part of a solar installation that nobody photographs and everybody should look at. The array on the roof is the easy half. The inverter, the isolators either side of it, the protective devices at the board and the labelling are what make it a safe, compliant generator rather than just some panels.

Everything is mounted on a board, run in cleanly, labelled, and left so that the next person to open the cupboard can understand it. The emergency shutdown procedure goes on the wall next to it.
